In the heart of the preserved settlement of Afytos, Halkidiki, an existing building has undergone a complete transformation, blending tradition with contemporary design. The renovation encompassed both the exterior and interior of the building, converting it from a residence into six high-end hotel-style apartments with a focus on aesthetics and functionality.
Exterior Renovation: Respecting Tradition The architectural intervention strictly followed the guidelines for the preserved settlement, maintaining the charm and authenticity of the local character. The use of Afytos’ characteristic stone, combined with wooden frames and doors, restores the connection with the traditional aesthetic of the village, seamlessly integrating the building into its surroundings.
Interior Design: Modern Aesthetics with Fluidity and Premium Materials Inside, the spaces were redesigned with an emphasis on fluidity and seamless movement. The pronounced curvatures of the partitions create an organic feel, offering an atmosphere of tranquility and relaxation. The flooring is covered with travertino-style marble tiles, adding a timeless sense of elegance. In the niches formed by the redesign, custom-made constructions of natural oak veneer were integrated. These unique built-in elements enhance both functionality and aesthetic coherence, creating harmonious and comfortable living spaces.
Distinctive Elements: Materials and Custom Features The addition of metal details on the headboards and in custom-designed hanging rails introduces a contemporary and industrial touch, generating striking contrasts with the otherwise natural material palette. Special attention was given to the bathrooms, where custom-made dark porous stone sinks add a unique and luxurious element, highlighting the natural beauty of the material through a minimalistic approach.
The complete renovation of the residence in Afytos, Halkidiki, is a balanced fusion of tradition and modern aesthetics. The respect for traditional materials and architectural lines of the settlement, combined with innovative design solutions, creates a space that exudes warmth, discreet luxury, and optimal functionality, offering visitors a truly exceptional accommodation experience.
